TNE Pathways to UNE

Did you know that university study could be part of your future?

UNE's partnership with TAFE New England (TNE) opens the door to university for a range of students who have completed a Certificate IV or Diploma. If you are studying accounting, agriculture, business, early childhood education, health, community services, nursing or social work at TNE you are guaranteed a place at UNE when you finish.

These pathways to university are open to everyone – whether you started studying at TNE after high school, want to improve your skills or change your career path.

Guaranteed place at UNE

The partnership between UNE and TNE means that where there is an Agreed Study Pathway your TNE Diploma will guarantee acceptance into the relevant UNE Bachelor Degree. In many cases, you will also be guaranteed Advanced Standing of up to one year.

If you have completed a TNE Diploma that is not listed as an Agreed Study Pathway, that’s okay. Your Diploma will still guarantee you acceptance into most relevant Bachelor Degrees on offer at UNE, with the possibility of receiving advanced standing upon application.

If you have completed a Certificate IV with TNE, this will guarantee your acceptance into most Bachelor degrees offered at UNE, however you won’t receive advanced standing into the degree.

In all cases, on graduation from UNE you will have qualifications from both UNE and TNE.

Credit and recognition for prior learning

Credit points or advanced standing are a great way to get ahead in your Bachelor degree. If you have completed a diploma from the Agreed Study Pathways you could be awarded up to one year’s advanced standing for your study. That means you are finished and working in your chosen field with both practical and theoretical knowledge!

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is also known as advanced standing.

Regional Study Centres

You can save time and money too when you study close to home. UNE and TNE are committed to giving you the best options to study while staying near home and support you in your studies through our Regional Study Centres. Located across the region there is bound to be one near you with good download speeds, computers and easy access to academic and IT support.

UNE has two stand-alone study centres in Tamworth and Taree with study areas, technical support and access to personal support should you need it.

Study Centres are also located in the TAFE centres in Moree, Gunnedah, Narrabri, Inverell, Tenterfield and Coonabarabran, and in the Glen Innes Council Library in Glen Innes.
