New courses tailored for Tamworth
In 2021 UNE is offering new career-focused certificate courses, specifically tailored for students in Tamworth.
Developed in consultation with government and business in the Tamworth area, the Undergraduate Certificate in Professional Development* offers a range of specialisations in areas that have been identified as growth industries in the region.
- Study online, with options for face-to-face learning in Tamworth
- Start 1 March and complete in either 4 months (fulltime) or 9 months
(part time); or start 28 June and complete in 4 months (full time only)
- Undertake work experience with a local employer
In addition to these specialisations, you can also study courses in Information Technology, Science, Education and Agriculture, as part of the Undergraduate Certificate in Professional Development.
On successful completion you will be awarded an Undergraduate Certificate in Professional Development, which will equip you with the creative, critical and analytical skills to help you future proof your career in a rapidly changing world.

- Business Studies
Choose from subjects in accounting, economics, finance, communication, and marketing, and put what you’ve
learned from your study into practice in a real-life workplace. You will examine actual business case studies to analyse business data, strategy and management practices.
- Community Welfare & Wellbeing
Are you interested in a career in health, social care or community service work? In this course you will gain skills in decision making, professional practice, and effective communication. You’ll have the opportunity to apply these skills in a real-world setting, and experience how community services can enhance health and well-being.
- Creative Industries
This course is for those interested in creative pursuits such as film, music, performing arts and publishing, as well as careers in advertising, design and digital content. You will study current skills, techniques and practices, including cross-cultural and Indigenous worldviews, and have the opportunity to apply this knowledge in a real-life setting.
- Event Management
In this specialisation you will gain the knowledge and skills needed to create and design an event. You will also have opportunity to grow your capability in innovation and entrepreneurship, and be exposed to industry experts, real-world applications and career possibilities.
- Sports Equine Management
In this course you will examine the global sports industry and sporting event management, including marketing and communication. Work experience at either the Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre (AELEC) or the Tamworth Sports Dome will allow you to put your learnings into practice.
- Sports Science
You will learn about the science of sport, exercise and health and its practical applications. Study options include human anatomy, health and fitness assessment, training for health and performance, and introductory psychology. You will have the chance to learn from industry experts and put your knowledge into practice in a professional setting.
