Study abroad for overseas students

UNE's Study Abroad program lets you explore Australia. Meet new friends in Armidale while you study for your degree!

When you study abroad in Australia, you usually take a leave of absence from your university at home and pay fees to UNE. You can often get a credit towards your degree.

Most importantly, you will have the experience of a lifetime. Your learning environment will bring new wonder and excitement each day. The classrooms at UNE sit within a truly Australian bushland setting. Our campuses are surrounded by spectacular waterfalls, gorges and world-heritage national parks that you will be free to explore on weekends.

UNE also offers a popular exchange program. To join the exchange program, you must be nominated by your university. Anyone can apply to study abroad!

Trimester dates

Trimester 1 – February to June

Trimester 1 is our "summer" trimester, which takes you from the long hot summer days through to autumn. Witness the glorious fall colours in Australian New England as we head into the start of our frosty winter.

Study Abroad students are welcome to join our fantastic orientation program, held in February. The program offers so many social and academic activities on the go at once.

Applications close 1 December the previous year.

Trimester 2 – June to October

The mid-year trimester starts in the middle of winter and sees the country come back to life with a warm spring. Study in Trimester 2, and you can head home before the really hot weather begins.

You are welcome to join our mid-winter orientation before the start of the trimester, which will help you get settled quickly.

Applications close 1 May.

Trimester three is not available to Study Abroad students.
