Mr Demielle Landsborough
Administrative Assistant - School of Environmental and Rural Science
I am a proud 26 year old Kamilaroi/ Gomeroi/ Gamilaroi man from Guyra NSW, I have lived in Armidale for 5 years. I have two beautiful girls and another baby on the way.
I am an Administrative Assistant with the School of Environmental and Rural Science (ERS). I have been working with ERS since mid 2016. My role is to make sure everything runs smoothly around three disciplines: Ecosystem Management, Environmental Engineering, and Earth Sciences.
I do book lists for Academic staff, collect and distribute exams, sort paperwork, email, create spreadsheets, and collect parcels. I also take care of supplies such as stationery, kitchen and other consumables, post letters, collect letters, room allocation downloading and uploading class lists, and a lot more. Essentially a Jack of all trades. I keep the wheels turning in the ERS administrative team.
I’m not going to lie, it’s challenging at times, but it gets easier each time you do a task. The UNE will take the time to train you, if you put the effort in. Working at UNE has given me the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge that I never knew I had.
There is always someone you can go to if you have a problem with anything, all you have to do is ask.
There are great supportive networks within the UNE that Aboriginal staff and students can go to. The Oorala Aboriginal Centre is the Aboriginal Camp Ground at UNE where the mob can meet up and have a yarn or two.
I would highly recommend UNE to Aboriginal people.
