Biography

David Goldsworthy is an Senior Adjunct Lecturer in ethnomusicology at UNE. He taught world music courses, and directed the University’s Indonesian gamelan group, Swara Naga at UNE from 1977 – 2007. His special research interests, expertise, and publications are in the fields of Indonesian music (especially of Java and Sumatra) and music of the Pacific. Now retired, David continues his research and is currently completing two books, one on ‘Indonesian music in the classroom’, and the other on Cook Islands popular music. His most recent publication is an annotated CD recording of Fijian popular music.
