Dr Simone Valle de Souza

Biography

With a background in Business Management and Finance, Simone has completed a Master Of Economic Studies and a PhD in Resource Economics at UNE. Her PhD project was awarded the 2005 Science and Innovation Award for Young People in Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, along with a AU$10,000 research funding from the Fisheries Research and Development Corporation. Simone was also a lecturer in economics and finance units, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and held post-doctoral fellow positions in Public Policy at the UNE Business School from 2008 to 2017. In her researcher capacity she published 7 refereed journal articles and one book chapter with leading researchers in public policy, resource economics, management, science and psychology from the UNE Business School and other universities. Adding to her experience as researcher, Simone has also presented research results in various domestic and international conferences and research centres. Her research expertise includes public policy analysis, statistical analysis, designing evolutionary algorithms, optimisation modelling and economic analysis. She is also currently the deputy director for the UNE Centre for Local Government.
