Biography

Michelle rejoined UNE in 2009 after holding academic positions at the University of Southern Queensland and the University of Tasmania. She has teaching experience in the disciplines of Accounting and Finance and is currently teaching Small Business Finance, Financial Markets and International Finance. She is co-author of 'Introducing Corporate Finance' (with Diana Beal, 2005,Wiley) and 'Introducing Corporate Finance', 2nd edition (with Diana Beal & Abul Shamsuddin, 2008, Wiley).

Research Interests

Michelle's current primary area of research is the valuation of fixed price initial public offerings (IPOs). She has also published in the areas of ethical investment and accounting measurement. Her most frequently cited article is 'Why do we invest ethically?' Journal of Investing, 14 (3) 66-77 (with D. Beal and P. Phillips). Michelle enjoys working with research students and mentoring them through the process of publishing from their dissertations. This has resulted in projects such as the regulation of the Kuwaiti Stock Exchange and rural tourism in Bhutan.
