Biography

After working for seven years as a clerk/bookkeeper in two small accounting firms and studying accounting part-time, Associate Professor Fisher established and managed an importing and retail business until the mid-1990s. Associate Professor Fisher didn’t begin her university studies (part-time and off-campus) until she was thirty.

She has a Bachelor of Arts with First Class Honours majoring in philosophy, a Graduate Diploma in Humanities and her PhD was in applied ethics, so her academic background has a strong focus on philosophy. Associate Professor Fisher became a full-time academic at UNE in 1997. Her research interests include business ethics, professional ethics, corporate social responsibility, sustainability and the relationship between these areas and strategic management. She also researches the scholarship of learning and teaching.

Associate Professor Fisher has supervised postgraduate students in the areas of strategic management, business and professional ethics and the scholarship of learning and teaching. Associate Professor  Fisher has been an elected member of  the University’s Academic Board, the University Teaching and Learning Committee, chaired the University Scholarships Committee and was convenor of the UNEBS Teaching & Learning Committee.
