Biography

Arief Daryanto is head of the Master and Doctoral Program, Business School, Bogor Agricultural University. Arief received his PhD from the University of New England. He has a long and distinguished history of working on a range of successful ACIAR projects as well as EVD projects on Round Table Indonesia (RTI), focusing on agricultural policy, poultry, the economics of livestock and biosecurity, value chains, and contract farming with smallholders. Arief publishes widely on agricultural issues in Indonesia, and supervises numerous PhD and Masters students. He served as a task force member at the Ministry of Agriculture to develop a new long-term agricultural sector development strategy (2012-2015). The new strategy is intended to provide a guide for public and private sector efforts in overcoming the outstanding challenges facing the agricultural sector in Indonesia. Arief is now serving on the Experts Working Group on Food Security with the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture, and as a reviewer of Cluster and Core Competencies Programs at the Ministry of Industry. He is also very active with various organizations, such as being Chairman of the Indonesian Agricultural Economics Association.
