An Eco-Civic Regionalisation for Rural NSW

This study, undertaken for the Land and Property Information Division of the NSW Department of Lands, developed a nested hierarchy of administrative regions for rural New South Wales that could potentially be used for such purposes as local government areas or service delivery or resource management regions. The nrm civimetrics technique used in the study combines information about the areas the people regard as their community, and information about the type of landscape, to produce regions that share the same types of resource management issues and are regarded by the people living within them as reflecting their sense of community and place. A precursor to this project developed a primary data gathering and mapping method to assimilate data on the social and ecological influences that might define natural resource governance regions.
