Facilities for students

Learning Commons

The Learning Commons on Level 2 of the Dixson Library Building provides state-of-the-art computing facilities, access to support staff, and spaces for group work and individual study.

The are two Problem-Based Learning (PBL) Rooms that are bookable online.

The Commons facilities include wi-fi access and secure lockers for laptop storage. There are also loanable wi-fi equipped laptops for in-library use.

The Library has installed Echo360 in Study Room 229. Echo360 is video recording and video conferencing software which you can use. You can book this Echo360-equipped room online.

In addition, you can print, scan and copy using the multi-function devices (MFDs).

Informal Learning Spaces

The south-west and south-east corners of the Learning Commons on Level 2 function as Informal Learning Spaces.

These are multipurpose, collaborative learning areas for students to congregate, share ideas, socialise and receive assistance from Academic Advisors and other support staff. They are ideal for peer assisted learning.

If you are looking for a quiet place to study, head upstairs to Level 3 or Level 4, where you will find a number of computer workstations and Group Study Rooms. Many of the group study rooms are bookable online. There is also a quiet study area on Level 1.

Rooms available for medical students

Medical students can access certain rooms normally reserved for Library staff after 5.00 PM weekdays and during weekends. The rooms are:

  • Staff Meeting Room.
  • Letters Room.
  • Consultation Room Level 1.
