In March 2025, the English Language Centre was quality endorsed by NEAS for the 32nd year in a row demonstrating ELC’s continuous commitment to the delivery of quality English language programs.
In 2024, the ELC introduced free IELTS-prep and PTE-prep programs in response to the government changes to post-study work rights.
In 2023, the ELC undertook Action Research led by English Australia focusing on feedback. This feedback process is now implemented into our daily EAP lessons.
In 2023, the ELC also launched our Writing Hub service, a suite of academic skills programs designed to meet the diverse learning needs of all UNE students.
In 2022, ELC partnered with a local corporate client to provide English language support to their staff.
In March 2020, ELC launched its new curriculum which uses Task-Based Language Teaching methodology (TBLT). Our teachers have now taught this TBLT program for five years.
The ELC is a fully integrated part of the University of New England, meaning that EAP students have access to all UNE student support services; additionally, our students have on-going pastoral and academic support. This focus on student engagement and pastoral support is another key to the success of our English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program.
