Red Permits
Please note that red permit applications for 2024 closed on Friday 16th February. All applicants, successful or otherwise have been notified of the outcome of their application. After the closing date any un-issued Red Bays will be sold on a first come first served basis & allocated in accordance with the UNE Parking Policy & Parking Procedures. If you are not sure, it would be best to check with Parking Administration to see what red bays are available after the closing date & where they are located prior to submitting an application. Red bays will be first offered and allocated to staff that hold the position of Director / Head of School or above. Any Red bays that have not been allocated to Directors / Head of School or above will be allocated to eligible staff and/or students by Parking Administration.
NB: where multiple applications for a single bay are received a ballot will be conducted to determine the successful applicant. All applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application within one (1) week of the closing date. Those applicants who have been successful in having a red bay allocated to them can, once advised, then pay for their virtual red parking permit from their personal parking account.
PLEASE NOTE - once you have been assigned your red bay you have 14 days to pay for your virtual permit. If you dont pay the invoice in this 2 week window, your invoice will expire. If payment is not received your red bay may be offered up for sale to another customer.
All decisions regarding the allocation of red parking bays is final.
The University offers a Salary Sacrifice arrangement for Red virtual permits only. This arrangement allows for the full cost of the permit to be deducted from an individual's pay as a pre-tax (salary sacrifice) deduction. Those staff who are successful in obtaining a Red Permit can choose the Salary Sacrifice payment option available from within their Parking Account. Note : Not all staff are automatically eligible to pay by Salary Sacrifice. Eligibility will be assessed by H.R upon lodgement of the form. The number of payroll deductions per permit type are as follows:
- 12 Month Red Permit - over 5 Pay's
- 6 Month Red Permit - over 5 Pay's
- 4 Month Red Permit - over 2 Pay's
- 2 Month Red Permit - over 2 Pay's

Changes to Red Bays
In 2024 Red Bays will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. So, if you’re assigned a Red bay in 2024 & purchase a Red virtual permit, the bay is yours to park in no matter the hour or day of the week. As long as you have a valid Red Permit linked to the registration number of your vehicle parked in your bay, you can park in this bay anytime you like. This is a change from 2023 where Red Bays operated 8.30am – 4.30pm Monday to Friday.
Red Parking Applications
Applications for Red bays are received by Parking Administration for availability, allocation & approval. Once processed Parking Administration will advise the outcome of your application. If approved payment can then be made on-line via either Salary Sacrifice, or Credit Card. The virtual red permit will not be valid until payment has been received. You have 2 x weeks from the date of the invoice to pay for your red permit. After 2 x weeks the invoice expires in the system. So make sure you pay for your red permit in this 2 x week window.
Any Red Bays un-allocated after the 16th February will be assigned on a first come first served basis.
