UNE’s SRI AgTech pitch event goes virtual

Published 30 March 2020

Leading agtech startup companies will pitch via video what they do and how they are building their business in the New England North West region of NSW.

Log on to the UNE SMART Region Incubator website on 30 April to meet the founders and learn about the technologies they are bringing to market right here in the region.

Lou Conway, Director of the UNE SMART Regional Incubator says the purpose of the event is to connect regional agtech startups with potential investors, customers and partners.

“We are creating a virtual pitch event where startups share what they do and each pitch is available on the SRI website for anyone to watch from the 30 April until the 10 May,” Dr Conway said.

“Over the course of 10 days, a judging panel of Australian and global investors will select two startups who will each receive $7000 to pursue global market opportunities.”

Through the SRI, UNE supports startups and industry working together, using research to create commercial opportunities.  As these startups begin to grow and scale in the region, they create jobs and attract talent and investment which builds our regional economy.

Established New England agri innovator Agricultural Business Research Institute (ABRI) has grown exponentially from its base at UNE.

“With continuing innovation being critical for a thriving agriculture sector, I’m particularly excited about this AgTech Pitch event and gaining an understanding of what might be next for the industry,” ABRI Managing Director Hugh Nivison said.

“The opportunity to see new products or services being cultivated with potential for commercial success, is fantastic.”
