Zoology PhD student Lucy Farrow has won an award for an Outstanding Student Talk at the Australasian Ornithological Conference recently held at Deakin University in Geelong.

This conference is the premier ornithological conference for the region, and saw more than 150 presentations with an avian theme presented over the course of three jam-packed days.

Lucy’s talk discussed her research into avian communication systems, and was entitled: ‘True Individual Recognition Unveiled by the Transference of Habituation in Noisy Miners (Manorina melanocephala)’.

“This is a fantastic achievement,” said Lucy’s supervisor, Dr Paul McDonald. “Especially given this was only the second conference that Lucy has attended in her career!”
