Local high school students will receive career advice from one of Australia’s most well-known and accomplished legal figures, the Honorable Michael Kirby, former High Court Justice, when he visits the University of New England’s Law School, on Monday.
Mr Kirby will share his extensive expertise and experience with local high school students where he will also speak about careers in law.
Students from Duval High School, Armidale High School, Calrossy High School and Oxley High School will attend the careers talk and BBQ lunch with the former High Court Justice.
Mr Kirby will also present a public lecture titled ‘United Nations Initiative on Healthcare.’
UNE law students will get the opportunity to meet one of the ‘rock stars’ of the law world at an afternoon tea with Mr Kirby at Earle Page College for afternoon tea.
From 1996 until 2009, Michael Kirby was a justice of the High Court of Australia. Mr Kirby’s judgments are particularly interesting for law students as he often presented contrary opinions to the majority of the High Court.
