ICAC investigation into John Cassidy

Published 30 October 2014

Last year the University of New England referred the involvement of its former Chancellor, John Cassidy, in the 2006 sale of the Tattersalls Hotel in Armidale, to the Independent Commission Against Corruption.

UNE has fully cooperated with the ICAC throughout their investigation.

Today the ICAC released its report into the matter, finding that Mr Cassidy engaged in corrupt conduct in connection with the sale of the Tattersall Hotel in Armidale.

From the University’s perspective, it is important to note that the Commission “…did not consider it necessary to make any corruption prevention recommendations as the investigations did not raise any systemic issues.”

Mr Cassidy was the Chancellor of UNE from 2003 to 2008 and has no active involvement with the University.
