The global search for a new Vice-Chancellor at the University of New England is well underway, with an executive recruitment firm engaged to expand the search on the international stage.

Chancellor of the University of New England, the Hon John Watkins said UNE is seeking a leader who can build on the University’s strong financial position and achieve further growth in both on-campus and online enrolments and research output.

“UNE is seeking a leader who can continue our recent growth and work effectively with our academic and professional staff to further build the University’s research and teaching capabilities,” Mr Watkins said.

“We are looking for candidates with an open, transparent and constructive leadership style, excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with a vision for UNE in the Higher Education sector for the next 5 to 10 years.

“We are seeking someone who will understand UNE’s key strengths, recognise the University is a key part of a vibrant local and regional community and that the University has a strong future in the global Higher Education sector.

“UNE needs a leader who can look to the future and keep UNE at the forefront of quality education and student experience,” the Chancellor said.

John Watkins says while the search for a new Vice-Chancellor is being conducted, the University is in strong and capable hands under the leadership of Professor Annabelle Duncan.

The University has engaged executive recruitment firm Heidrick & Struggles to assist with the search for the new Vice-Chancellor. Any enquiries regarding this position should be directed in the first instance to Bill Kett at Heidrick & Struggles via
