Sport UNE is throwing open its doors this Saturday, 14 March, offering everyone a free opportunity to try out its facilities and new equipment, and to experience its group fitness classes.
Throughout the Sport UNE Open Day, which will run from 11 am till 3 pm, qualified instructors will be on hand to answer questions and discuss fitness programs.
“Open Day will be a showcase for our programs, group fitness classes, facilities (including the gym and 25-metre heated swimming pool) and sporting clubs,” said Kathie Hunt, Operations Manager for Sport UNE. “Open Day visitors will be helped to decide on the best way for them to get fit – while enjoying the process.”
Ms Hunt pointed out that Sport UNE catered for all ages, with classes such as “Mobility Plus” and “Mature and Motivated” having members ranging in age from their 50s to their 90s, and “Aqua” classes (in the swimming pool) suitable for all fitness levels.
She said Open Day visitors would have the chance to inspect Sport UNE’s new, state-of-the-art gym equipment – including the 15-piece weight-training circuit that has been in use for just a few weeks. “While all the new equipment is easy to use,” she said, “our staff members are always happy to assist in any way that’s required.”
Sport UNE not only provides University of New England students with one of the best facilities of its kind at any Australian university, but is an important resource for the health and recreation of the whole Armidale community.
