School students on campus to experience science disciplines across UNE
Three-day event — 15, 16, 17 January 2019
The ConocoPhillips Science Experience in January 2019 gives high-school students the opportunity to take part in exciting and challenging hands-on science at UNE, including:
- chemistry experiments
- DNA extraction
- forensic science
- coding challenges
- insect ecology and agriculture on our rural properties
- a visit to Dangar Falls, one of the spectacular gorges in the New England region, for some evening bushwalking
Students will also get to interact with, and ask questions to a career panel of scientists from industry, academia, government, and consulting. The discussion will focus on the changing job market in science to help students identify their passions and interests in science.
The ConocoPhillips Science Experience at UNE is designed so that high school students going into years 9, 10 and 11 can stay on campus, and experience what it’s like to live at university in one of the residential colleges.
Rotary are offering scholarships for students in drought-affected areas to cover registration. Get in touch with your local Rotary for more information.
