Screening "Maratus", this short documentary explores the impact citizen science can have on our understanding of the fauna around us. Stuart Harris, a Canberran with a love for wildlife and photography discovered a new species of peacock spider in Namadji National Park. Mr Harris was contacted by Dr Jurgen Otto, a renowned expert on jumping spiders. "Maratus" explores the journey of finding the tiny peacock spider and describing it as a new species!
Stuart Harris founder of the peacock spider, Maratus harrisi, will join UNE Zoology Society for a special Q and A about his experience and the powerful impacts of citizen scientists. ๐ท๏ธ
