This warm and light-hearted comedy celebrates the joyful chaos of family and the strength of community. It follows Lauren, a successful Sydney lawyer, and her fiancé Ned as they prepare for their wedding.
A Day at the Movies is designed for the enjoyment and comfort of people living with dementia, and their families, friends, carers and companions.
Carers receive a free ticket, courtesy of Carers ACT, and all attendees can enjoy a complimentary Bulla ice cream.
How is this event tailored for people with dementia?
- Friendly staff trained by Dementia Australia will be on hand to greet visitors and help throughout the event;
- Films selected are in line with dementia-friendly screening guidelines;
- Low-level lighting is used for the duration of the screening;
- Additional wayfinding and signage;
- Reduced sound levels in the cinema;
- A designated quiet space for guests to rest or relax;
- A 10-minute intermission to stretch and refresh;
- Pre- and post-screening refreshments are provided in the NFSA garden courtyard, offering guests an opportunity to relax and socialise.
