Science Pathways

The Science Pathways program is designed to enable students without an appropriate background in science, to build their skills and knowledge to the point where they can be accepted as a candidate for a science-based degree.

Students must choose one of three approved programs, Science, General or Medical, depending on their educational background or further study intentions.

Programs of Study

The Science Pathways program is for students without the educational background for admission into a science based degree program at UNE. Students who do not have an ATAR, have not successfully completed year 12 or senior high school, or are mature age and considering tertiary study may apply for admission. The successful completion of the Science Pathway program will provide the basis for admission to most undergraduate Science courses at UNE.

The General Studies in Science program allows students to design their own program of study in consultation with academic staff, taking into account their background knowledge and interests. This program also provides an alternate pathway for students into Initial Teacher Education courses.

The Medical Sciences program provides excellent preparation for students working towards entry into a range of medical or paramedical courses.

1 year full time or up to 4 years part time.
