Master of Scientific Studies
Designed for those wanting specialised training, the Master of Scientific Studies provides a diverse range of majors. Each major comprises advanced units in the subject plus a research project or thesis, preparing students for a career in the field or for a PhD program. Students may also take units in complementary subjects, setting them apart from others and personalising the degree. For example, a chemistry student might develop computing and data analysis skills by adding on MATLAB-based programming and statistics units, while a genetics student could develop a specialty in plant genetics by taking botany units.
Normally completed in two years as a full-time student or up to twelve trimesters as a part-time student, those with strong backgrounds in the field may be granted credit for prior learning to fast-track their degree.
