Higher Degree Research in School of Psychology
UNE Psychology has a strong research culture and history of supervising and supporting Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students. The school offers HDR degrees at both the Masters and PhD level, including a Doctor of Philosophy (Clinical Psychology).

The School has a strong international reputation for its research in a broad range of areas, including cognitive neuroscience, behaviour genetics, animal learning, health psychology, social psychology, environmental psychology, health psychology, organisational psychology, human sexuality, and clinical psychology.
The School also has a psychology clinic that provides advanced training in practice and research in psychology, with a focus on providing support to rural and regional communities.
PhD or Masters students in the School of Psychology join a community of over 90 HDR students conducting a broad range of projects across the Faculty of Medicine and Health.
As an HDR student you will play a central role in enhancing UNE’s reputation for research excellence. The School has a strong culture of engagement, in which HDR students regularly co-author papers and explore external funding opportunities with their supervisors.
Internal funding is provided to support research projects, and also conference travel. Opportunities for supplementary funding through teaching and research assistantships are also available.
