Indonesian in-country study programs

Indonesian In-Country Language and Cultural Programs offer intensive in-country language programs in Lombok and Kupang. The program is run by the Regional Universities Indonesian Language Initiative (RUILI) in collaboration with the Mataram Lingua Franca Institute (MLFI) in Mataram, Lombok, and the University of Nusa Cendana in Kupang, West Timor.

In-country study is divided into three-week units. Students may enrol in two consecutive three-week units at MLFI. These units can be counted towards degrees and majors. They are also available to students enrolled at other institutions through cross-institutional enrolment.

The programs give you the opportunity to study Indonesian in an immersive environment where they use lessons learnt in the classroom on a daily basis in interaction with the local population around them. The supportive local staff and Australian Resident Directors work hard to provide interesting cultural activities, including excursions, and seek to help you develop not only a better understanding of Indonesian language, but also the Indonesian way of life.

RUILI is a consortium of four Australian regional universities — University of New England, Charles Darwin University, University of the Sunshine Coast, and University of Tasmania.
