Academy Tour Progams

Study Program

Tour participants are encouraged to combine participation in a study tour with formal enrolment in a relevant unit of study at UNE. Within the School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences there are a number of permanent teaching units that complement the tour programs. The School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences also offers shell units at undergraduate and postgraduate level (HUMS300/500) that permit participants to pursue a relevant research project of their own devising under the direction of a supervisor. UNE welcomes the enrolment of students from other institutions for cross-institutional credit. Students wishing to undertake units of study at UNE for cross-institutional credit are advised to confirm whether these will be accepted for cross-institutional credit by the registrar of their respective institutions. Participants are welcome to discuss all their enrolment options with the Academic Coordinator for the School. Please note that formal enrolment in a unit of study is not required in order to participate in the tours (see the Auditing Program). However, where tour places are limited, preference will be assigned to participants who have formally enrolled.

Auditing Program

Auditing participants in the tour program are not formally enrolled in a unit of study at UNE and they do not complete any assignments or assessment work. Instead of paying an enrolment fee, auditing participants pay an auditing fee. This fee ensures that auditing participants are still eligible to receive the same privileges and services for which institutional members in the Study Program are eligible, including access to restricted archaeological sites and collections, academic materials, resources, and the expertise of the academic tour leaders.

Applications

Calls for Applications and/or Expressions of Interest for upcoming tours will be posted here as programs become available and registrations for tours open.

Funding Opportunities

There are a number of university scholarships available for UNE students seeking to travel abroad. All tour costs not covered by a scholarship or bursary must be covered by each individual tour participant. Both the cost of the tour travel program and the fees levied to study at UNE vary each year. These costs will be set out in each tour information brochure as new tours are announced. To find out more about funding opportunities at UNE.
