The Information Technology Directorate provides IT support for staff and students via email, telephone, or in person at the Service Desk located in the Learning Commons on the Ground Floor of Dixson Library.

Before contacting us

To aid us in helping you, please try the following before contacting the Service Desk:

  • Check that all of the cables are plugged in (eg. power, phone, ethernet).
  • Restart your machine and try again.
  • If the problem happens again, write down the exact wording of the error message you see on your screen. Knowing the message can assist the IT Service Desk personnel in identifying the problem.

TIP:  You can take a screenshot of the error message by pressing ALT + PRINT SCREEN (PC) or Command+Shift+4+Capslock (Mac). This will copy the active window to the clipboard from where you can paste it into a Word document. Save the document and attach it to the ServiceNow request.

If you call us:

  • Have your student/staff number handy. This will help us to find your record quicker.
  • Have the information regarding your computer ready (i.e. type of computer [Windows or Mac], name of software that is having problems, etc.).
  • What are you trying to do and what happens.
  • Are there other computers affected in your area.
  • Remember that not all problems can be solved quickly. Research may have to be done in order to solve your problem, so your patience is appreciated.
