UNE Central Logistics is a section within the Campus Services unit of the Facilities Management Services Directorate. Central Logistics has two sub sections, Stores and Mail Room, which are both open between 8:00am and 4:00pm week days and both are located in the northern area of the campus in building N003.
UNE Stores has two large under cover docks for receiving and distribution of freight, dealing with up to a dozen carriers a day. Over ninety percent of the freight for the UNE Armidale Campus is delivered to Stores with freight tracked through supplier consignment notes.
The Stores department utilises a range of plant and equipment to service the needs of the UNE community including an open table top truck with an integrated hydraulic tail gate lifter and a fork lift for larger items on pallets. Small consignments can be dispatched from Stores all over Australia and around the world with insurance available for some items. Stores also provides a gas decanting system and has the capability to package large consignments on pallets with a shrink wrap and strapping service available.
UNE Stores operates as a service to the UNE Armidale Campus community with only the costs of the consignment by external transport providers passed on to the cost centres serviced. For any enquiries in relation to Stores services, please contact extension 2740 or 3593 or if calling from an outside phone line, 02 6773 2740 or 02 6773 3593.
The UNE Mail Room area has one large under cover dock for receipt and dispatch of mail deliveries from Australia Post on a daily basis.
The Mail Room receives a high volume of mail items ranging from small envelopes and padded bags to large cartons. Large mail items are normally delivered via the Stores truck. Smaller items are sorted into departmental mail bags and distributed around the Armidale UNE Campus by mail van delivery. The mail van also collects mail bags containing outgoing mail from departments on its delivery runs. This outgoing mail is returned to the Mail Room for collating and charging prior to being collected each weekday afternoon by Australia Post for delivery to a wide range of destinations throughout Australia and internationally.
The Mail Room service also operates as a service to the UNE Armidale Campus community, that is, only the costs of the outgoing mail and reply paid incoming mail are passed on to the cost centres serviced.
The Mail Room may also be utilised to facilitate large mail-outs for departments, with space and equipment available to collate, pack and address outgoing envelopes, padded bags, etc.. For any enquiries in relation to this facility and Mail Room services please contact extension 2141 or 2740 or, if dialing from an outside phone line, 02 6773 2141 or 02 6773 2740.
