About Us

Welcome!

The Joint Medical Program (JMP) is jointly offered by the School of Rural Medicine at the University of New England in partnership with the University of Newcastle and Hunter New England and Central Coast Local Health Districts.

The JMP continues the long-term commitment of many medical and community stakeholders within the region to improve equity of access to health care for patients and improve health services in rural areas of Australia. We hope students continue their association with regional and rural Australia as they progress in their careers.

State-of-the-art infrastructure for JMP teaching at UNE include an anatomy laboratory, eight PBL rooms, student self-catering facilities and a medical student common room.

Our students are supported by academic staff at both universities as well as medical practitioners who teach students in the community and in hospitals.

Most importantly, it is worth acknowledging that the development of the JMP is a team effort. The School thanks everyone involved for their contribution and invites the student body to play an active role in the further development of the JMP.

We welcome our new students and wish them every success in a career of life-long learning.
