Welcome,

The Oorala Centre is a study support and advisory centre for internal and external Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students at the University of New England.
We offer Academic advice, Tutorial assistance, a Computer Room, a Resource library, Tutorial rooms and a Student Common Room for relaxation and study. The Centre also runs the multi-award-winning tertiary preparation program, TRACKS, and the Alternative Entry Program, ISP.

• 13th NATIONAL INDIGENOUS TERTIARY EDUCATION STUDENT GAMES

Oorala Aboriginal Centre is sponsoring a team of Indigenous students from UNE to compete at national level in the 13th National Indigenous Tertiary Education Student Games, 16-19 September 2008, University of Western Australia, Perth.
Oorala wishes the team good luck in competing in the Games and an enjoyable visit to Perth!

• The next Internal Selection Program (ISP) for entry to UNE in Semester 1, 2009 will be held on 19-20 November 2008.
Applications close: 24 October 2008. - More information.

• TRACKS Tertiary Preparation program - applications for admission to studies in 2009 are now open.

• Two additional Scholarships through UNE for students who will be enrolled in Oorala's TRACKS tertiary preparation program in 2009:

Lyn McGettigan Scholarship ($5,000 for 1 year) - 2 offered for female Indigenous students who will be enrolled in TRACKS full-time, on campus

Mick Young Scholarship ($1,000 for 1 year, or pro rata for part-time study)

• 2009 Commonwealth Equity Scholarships are now open for students who will be enrolled in 2009 - applications must be made online at the UAC website: http://www.uac.edu.au/equity/equityschols.html

On-time closing date is 30 September 2008, closing date for late applications is 28 November 2008

By submitting one on-line application to UAC:

New TRACKS students and new undergraduate students can apply for*:
Indigenous Access Scholarship (one-off payment of $4,166, for new Indigenous students)
Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarship ($4,415 per year, for on campus students)
Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarship ($2,207 per year, for on or off campus students)

Continuing undergraduate students can apply for the Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarship and Commonwealth Education Scholarship*

* For full-time study; part-time students may apply if there are exceptional circumstances preventing full-time study
