Life in the Village
Our creed at Wright Village is ‘Independent Living. Excellent Life’. The community environment allows Residents to become as much, or as little, involved in the happenings of the Village. You get to choose the level of participation that suits you. This environment encourages academic excellence and commitment to the Village, while at the same time offering opportunities to extend one’s talents and interests through social, cultural, and sporting activities.
Wright Village attracts a good mix of undergraduate and postgraduate students, school leavers (with a minimum of 12 months independent living experience), and approximately 50% international students. This interesting mix of residents attracts students who are serious about their studies, but who wish to take advantage of the opportunities that living in such a diverse community provides. Residents have the chance to forge friendships with people from a diverse range of cultures and life experiences, many of which become life-long.
As a Resident of Wright Village your academic performance and progress will be monitored. Residents are required to pass at least 50% of a full time study load, each semester, to remain living at Wright Village. At the end of every semester exam results are reviewed and any Resident who has failed more than 50% of their course will be required to show cause as to why they should be allowed to continue to reside at Wright Village. Should a Resident fail more than 50% of their course in two consecutive semesters, in the same year, any application for accommodation may be excluded for the following year.
Wright Village has an active social program that includes a series of BBQs, inter-flat sporting activities, theme dinners, formal dinners and the annual ball. Residents are encouraged to develop a sensible balance in their lifestyle by participating in a range of sporting, cultural and community activities that are organized by the Wright Village Residents Association.
