Dr Michael Crock
Dr Michael Crock, PhD, is the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Educational Innovation and International), a newly created position with the Senior Management team.
He comes to the position after four years as an Executive Director, Academic Products and Services with Open Universities Australia and ten years as Director, Flexible Learning and Access Services at Griffith University.
Reporting directly to Vice-Chancellor Jim Barber, Dr Crock heads up the Teaching and Learning Centre and UNE International, and will keep a strategic eye on new technologies and educational innovations that may be applicable both on-campus and online. Dr Crock will also be responsible for the Pearson’s initiative that is converting selected UNE courses into high-quality digital offerings complete with sophisticated online analytics, and the new Future Campuses that UNE is planning to open in metropolitan and regional locations.
Michael Crock was born in San Diego, California, and first came to Australia in 1976 as an exchange student. Returning several years later, he studied science at Griffith University.
He has a PhD in instructional sciences, and before joining Open Universities Australia worked for more than 20 years in senior academic and management positions in the higher education and corporate training sectors.
