Deeds

A deed is a formal document such as a deed of confidentiality, deeds relating to assignment of intellectual property and royalty sharing between UNE and a staff inventor or a deed of release and indemnity.
Please contact the Director Legal Services to provide information for the drafting of the deed by the Legal Office.
All deeds must be sent to the Contracts Officer for processing before signature.
Deeds can only be signed under University Seal by two of the following officers: the Chancellor, Deputy Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor, the Chair of the Academic Board or the Chief Operating Officer.
All deeds must be sent to the Contracts Officer for checking before signature.
After the Director Legal Services has approved the deed, the Contracts Officer will arrange for UNE to sign the deed.
When the deed is in final form, an Authority to Sign Agreement Form must be completed and signed by the project officer, their Head of School and PVC Dean and sent to the Contracts Officer.
The Authority to Sign Agreement Form is an instruction to the Legal Office that a deed has School and Faculty or Directorate approval and is ready to be signed by UNE. It is a risk management procedure to make sure UNE does not sign unapproved, draft or incorrect deeds.
The Contracts Officer will arrange for the other party to sign the deed.
When the deed is signed by both parties the Contracts Officer will TRIM the deed and provide a copy to the project officer and other party.
