UNE appoints new Chief Operating Officer

UNE is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr David Cushway as the University’s Chief Operating Officer.

Vice-Chancellor and CEO Professor Barber said Mr Cushway brings extensive experience in managing public sector agencies as well as a forward thinking approach.

“Mr Cushway is highly recommended,” Professor Barber said, “and has had a successful career in senior public service in Sydney and the New England region.  He has personal experience in distance education, completing a Bachelor of Business through Charles Sturt University and is well-qualified with a Masters in Public Administration through Sydney University.”

Mr Cushway said he looks forward to the challenges and opportunities his role would present.

“There are a number of significant projects on the agenda – the colleges redevelopment, Future Campus and significant IT investment are all key opportunities in moving forward for the university.

“I am particularly interested in strengthening partnerships between the community and university.  Building partnerships with the community is such a key part of local government and during my time in Guyra, we achieved some wonderful things for our small community.

The Chief Operating Officer’s areas of responsibility include the provision of strategic leadership to the University, and the oversight of all business services for the University of New England including Information Technology, Facilities Management, Human Resources, Marketing and Public Affairs, and the commercial and quasi-commercial operations of the University.
