Process Review
Course and Unit Development, Approval and Publication

Purpose of the Review

UNE has, for some time, realised that the business processes associated with course and unit development, approval and publication (print form and the web) need some attention. Staff are finding that the processes can be arduous and time consuming, involve duplication of effort and information, and result in students and others getting conflicting and inconsistent information on the courses and units being offered by the University. The time has come to get serious about addressing the issues surrounding these important business functions.

The University has commissioned a consultant to review our Courses and Units development, approval and publication process. The outcome of this review will be a set of issues that need to be addressed, a list of recommendations for dealing with these issues and a strategy for implementing these recommendations.

The Consultant

  • Graeme Burton has many years experience working both in and with universities in the areas of student administration, system implementation and business process review and re-engineering. He has detailed knowledge of and experience with Callista, the University’s chosen student management system – due to go live in September this year.
