(1) Open your preferred Web browser (Netscape or Internet Explorer)
in the usual way
(2) Enter the url: http://unesis.une.edu.au
(3) Click on the SISPROD link at the bottom of the page
(4) Type your Username and Password.
If you are an update / data-entry system user and have attended
a UNESIS face-to-face training session then you should already have
a username and password.
All other users (including teaching and admin staff) must submit
a short form to request access to UNESIS. This form is available
online at http://www.une.edu.au/unesis/sis_req_access.htm. You will
then receive a UNESIS username and password via email.
(5) Click <Connect> or <Enter> to log on
The first time only that you attempt to log on to UNESIS you
may need to install an application called jinitiator.
On computers where the user has administrator access, this installation
will happen automatically the first time UNESIS is accessed (a small
icon will appear in the top left page of the screen, followed by
a couple of installation prompts).
On computers where the user does not have administrator access,
nothing at all happens when you go to the UNESIS link above. A blank
screen with 'DONE' in the bottom left hand corner is all that you
will see.
In this situation jinitiator will need to be installed by somebody
with knowledge of the administrator password. There are two ways
to do this. Either option should only take a few minutes.
Option A:
- Log on to the computer as Administrator
- Go to http://unesis.une.edu.au > click on the SISPROD link
at the bottom of the page
- The jinitiator installation will start up automatically
- Depending on your version, different prompts will come up -
follow the prompts (i.e. hit INSTALL to start the installation,
and then NEXT once or twice)
- If you see the logon screen with username and password prompt
then you are done!
- Logoff as administrator and back in as the user
- Go back to http://unesis.une.edu.au > click on the SISPROD
link at the bottom of the page
- If the username/password prompts comes up, the update has worked
Option B:
- Log on to the computer as Administrator
- Go to http://www.une.edu.au/UNEonly/software/Java/JInitiator/
and click on jinit.exe
- Click on Run/Open (depending on your system)
- Follow the prompts on screen to complete the installation
- Logoff as administrator and back in as the user
- Go back to http://unesis.une.edu.au > click on the SISPROD
link at the bottom of the page
- If the username/password prompts comes up, the update has worked
Contact the IT Helpdesk (helpdesk@une.edu.au
