U.E.S. Council Positions

President
The Presidents role is to construct targets and objectives for the executive which are considered to be inline with the objectives of the University of New England Undergraduate Economics Society. The President is responsible for the chairing of meetings. The President is responsible for ensuring the executive complete their roles adequately. The President has the responsibility of issuing (non-monetary) incentives to the executive.
Vice President
The Vice President will be responsible for ensuring the members of council are adequetely completing their duties as prescribed by the society and the societies president. The Vice President in conjunction with the President is also responsible for the creation of objectives for the members of council deemed to be in the interest of the society.
Treasurer
The treasurer is responsible for the effective use of the financial resources of the organisation and the seeking of further funding. An executive majority must approve all spending. The treasurer must ensure that all transactions are recorded and accessible to the executive via the society’s office. The treasurer is also responsible for acquiring new sources of funding through methods such as sponsorship, membership expansion and grants.
Secretary
The Secretary is responsible for the adminstrative functions of the society such as taking minutes during meetings, organising meeting times, signing up new members and the general organisation of the society.

Career Officer
The Career Officer will be responsible for searching for and informing the society members regarding prospective career opportunities particular to the membership. The Career Officer will be responsible for seeking as many possible career paths for the membership as possible.
Community Liaison
The community liaison officer is responsible for building community links and keeping members of the society informed in regards to relevant community issues and events. The community liaison officer will report to the executive regarding items of interest and potential to the society.
External Representative
The role of the external representative will be to ensure that the society caters to external members. The external representatives main role will be to find ways to increase external membership and to suggest any policies the society may implement in order to better represent external members.
Marketing Officer
The role of the marketing officer is to increase the ‘public visibility’ of the University of New England Undergraduate Economics Society in a way which is aligned with the mission statement and society goals. The marketing officer is in charge of designing posters, writing/distributing press releases and general promotion of the society. Press releases need to be approved by the president and at least one other member of the executive before they are distributed. Funds needed for marketing purposes will be approved by a majority vote of the executive; however, all effort must be used to use cheap effective means of marketing the society.
Mentoring Officer
The mentoring officer is responsible for helping members with their studies through providing academic support personally or via other members of the society. The mentoring officer must strictly adhere the faculty of economics business and law plagiarism policies.
Social Officer
The role of the social officer shall be to organize and help run events classed as ‘social events’. Social events will be proposed by the social officer and then approved by the executive. Organisation of the events will be the responsibility of the social officer in cooperation with the executive. Marketing for the events will be the responsibility of both the marketing officer and the social officer. Funding for events will be acquired through consultation with the treasurer; approval of any spending is to be approved by an executive majority.
Other
Webmaster
The webmaster is responsible for creating, maintaining and ensuring the stability of the University of New England Undergraduate Economics Society’s website. The webmaster will also be in charge of internet marketing of the website in consultation with the marketing officer when necessary. The webmaster will ensure that the UES website is updated when necessary. If the executive majority wishes to add further functions or media to the website it is the webmasters responsibility to implement them. As this is a position which requires expertise and experience it will be elected by the executive through a majority vote after considering the applicants suitability. The webmaster does not have voting rights.
