The UNE Economics Society

'The UNE Economics Society’s (UES) aim is to facilitate the study and practical application of Economics and related fields through the provision of networking, career and social opportunities for the benefit of members and the wider community.'

 

The UES is open to all UNE student interested in economics,  with a particular emphasis for those students studying economics, econometrics, agricultural economics and economic history majors. Membership is available to all those interested. We are dedicated to providing our members access to many opportunities designed to enhance their UNE experience.

 

The Society is offers a wide range of opportunities for members such as:

  • Social Functions: whether it's just a BBQ and beers at one of the locals or a full blown ball, we're here to make uni life more than bearable through running social events for members.
  • Career Information: the Society appoints a Career Officer every year who is dedicated to keeping members informed in regards to career opportunities within the field. Getting the edge in the job markets is made easier for our members.
  • Networking Opportunities: success can be just as much about who you know, the society recognises this by allowing members to keep in constant contact via the members discussion list whilst encouraging members to expand their personal networks through
  • Peer Support: Chances are if you're having problems with a subject somebody in the society can give you a hand, our Mentoring officer is dedicated to providing members with academic support to help you succeed in your studies.
  • Economics Library and Lounge: members of the Society have access to the UES dedicated economics library, located in Room 201 in the Economic, Business and Law (EBL) building.
