Mission of the Centre

The work of the Centre is concerned with the sources of, and responses to, change affecting non-metropolitan Australia. The Centre aims to contribute to the improvement of the quality of life of rural Australians through applied research which increases and improves the understanding of the processes of adjustment and development in rural Australia.



Objectives of the Centre

The objectives of the Centre are:

  • to undertake applied research on current issues in adjustment in rural industries, regional and community adjustment and development, human and community services in rural areas, and rural policy development;

  • to distribute information based on the results of its research, and encourage and promote the discussion and application of those results; and

  • to promote the development of improved rural policies.
