e submission logoSubmission

In general the university prefers that all assignments that can be are submitted electronically via the university’s e-Submission system. However individual unit coordinators will decide on the most appropriate submission method depending on the assignment task required.

The new e-Submission system includes a number of features which the previous system did not, and integrates with TurnItIn, software which checks the originality of work submitted to it. Detailed information regarding e-Submitting assignments and submitting ‘draft’ assignments to TurnItIn is available here.

TurnItIn checks the originality of your work by comparing text from your assignment with websites, databases and online journals. Before you submit your assignment for marking you are able to submit it to TurnItIn for originality checking. This is an OPTIONAL step but it will allow you to review the originality of your work before final submission. You can self-submit your assignment the TurnItIn as many times as you wish until you receive a report you are satisfied with. Reports should be returned in under fifteen minutes however you should allow at least thirty minutes in order to be sure your originality report will be returned before you submit your assignemnt for marking. If you don’t see a report in this time refresh your browser.

Note: When you submit your assignment to TurnItIn for self-checking it will not be checked against other student submissions. However, when it is submitted for final checking again by UNE then these submissions will be checked.

Once you are satisfied with the TurnItIn originality report, your assignment should be submitted to UNE for marking. UNE will then submit your files to TurnItIn again for final checking. This report will be used by the Unit Coordinator to check your assignment for originality.
