In 2013, $8 million (indicative) has been allocated to Grants programs, comprising the Leadership for Excellence in Learning and Teaching program, Innovation and Development program, Seed Projects, Extension Grants, and Strategic Priority Projects.

Innovation and Development Program – Funding $4.0 million (indicative)

The Innovation and Development Program supports research, development and innovation related to the enhancement of learning and teaching in higher education.

Round 2: ONLY open to full proposals invited by the OLT from successful  expressions of interest in round 1 Friday 2 August 2013

Leadership for Excellence in Learning and Teaching Program – Funding $1.0 million (indicative)

The Leadership for Excellence in Learning and Teaching Program supports projects that build leadership capacity in ways consistent with the promotion and enhancement of learning and teaching in contemporary higher education, and which reflect the values of excellence, inclusiveness, diversity and collaboration, and its commitment to long-term, systemic change.

Extension Grants Funding: Funding $400,000 (indicative)

Extension Grants are designed to support the OLT’s major programs through the continued dissemination and embedding of completed learning and teaching projects. These may be projects funded within institutions, or by one of the OLT’s predecessor bodies.

Seed Projects – Funding $1.0 million (indicative – across all grants program)

Seed projects are pilot projects which will test and evaluate an original idea, or stand-alone, small-scale projects, or projects which build the capacity of early career academics. An early career academic is one with no fewer than two and no more that five years' cumulative experience teaching in a higher education setting.

Original ideas are understood to be any which have not already been funded by one of the OLT’s predecessor organisations, or by an institution. Applications can address any of the priorities in the Innovation and Development Program, or in the Leadership for Excellence in Learning and Teaching Program, or any other topic. Seed projects will be funded to a maximum of $50,000. Duration: up to one year.

Strategic Priority Projects

The OLT will commission work addressing particular issues and responding to Government priorities, as determined by the Strategic Advisory Committee. Project briefs, application information, which may vary from that of the general biannual funding rounds.

Information regarding the strategic priorities for 2013 and commissioned projects will be available in early 2013.
