Units in Moodle
Assignments for units in Moodle should be submitted from within your Moodle site. Please refer to the Moodle instructions - Submitting assignments, grades and receiving feedback.
Units in Blackboard
Assignments for units in Blackboard should be submitted using the e-Submission system. Click the link at the bottom of the page to log in to e-Submission. See e-Submission and Turnitin: Information for students for instructions
Hardcopy assignment submission
Assignments are usually required to be submitted electronically, however, some assignments are not suitable for submission electronically and may be submitted in hardcopy. Assignment coversheets must be attached to assignments submitted in hardcopy. For Moodle units, these can be downloaded from the assignment page in your Moodle unit site and in e-Submission for units in Blackboard.
TurnItIn
UNE uses a software application to determine the originality* of assessable work submitted by its students. This software is called TurnItIn and it is part of the assignment submission process. TurnItIn checks the originality of your work by comparing text from your assignment against many billions of web pages, student papers and leading library databases and publications. TurnItIn produces a report that will highlight any similarities detected.
* Originality, in this context, does not mean the assignment needs to be solely original thought. It refers to the use of sources in your work.
UNE allows you to submit your assignment to TurnItIn for checking before you submit it for marking. This is an optional step and can occur as many times as you require. Once you are satisfied with your report, you can then submit your assignment for marking. Once your assignment has been electronically submitted for marking, it will be automatically sent to TurnItIn for final checking and will send a report to the Unit Coordinator.
Note: When documents are submitted through the Self-check, they are NOT checked against other student submissions but will be checked against the public Internet and online publications and databases that TurnItIn has access to. When your assignment is submitted for marking it will be checked against other student submissions as well.
(To find out how to use Turnitin in Moodle Units see How to use the TurnItIn originality check?)
