About peer mentoring

The tUNEin peer support program involves linking senior students with a small group of first-year students enrolled in the same or similar degree. Linking takes place at tUNEin meet and greet functions during O-week.

The tUNEin peer supporters provide support and encouragement to first-year students, particularly those living in town, to assist them to make a successful transition to university study.

University study and life is very different to high school, and different also from the workplace. It's sometimes hard for new students to work out what's expected, how they're going to cope with structuring their own study, and to find out who to go to for guidance.

tUNEin peer supporters are there to assist and encourage new students to find their way through those early stages of university life. This may involve listening, sharing their own experiences, or encouraging students to make use of appropriate campus services.
