tUNEin@distance for external students
This program aims to assist newly enrolled external students settle into the role of an external student with greater ease by linking UNE graduates with a group of first-year external students of UNE. tUNEin@distance peer supporters are there to assist and encourage new students to find their way through those early stages of university life.
The tUNEin@distance peer supporters have been trained in peer mentoring, including communication skills, and referral procedures to the various UNE services. While they cannot help you with assignments or any content matter relating to the units you are taking, they can offer you assistance with the settling in process, with negotiating the university system, with tips for organising your time, or they can share their experiences of being an external student with you. Should you have any questions during the semester, your supporter can help you, or can refer you to the right person. As a graduate of UNE, your supporter will also be aware of the issues that may affect you as an off-campus student, and they want to help you become a successful member of the UNE community.
This is a great opportunity to gain support to help you through those first few months of distance study.
