Avoiding Plagiarism @ UNE
There are several resources available to help students understand what plagiarism and academic misconduct are. Some of those resources are complied here for your convenience.
Current UNE policy and procedure documents on plagiarism:
- Student Coursework Plagiarism and Academic Misconduct Rules
- Higher Degree Research Student Responsible Research Conduct Policy
- Avoiding Plagiarism and Academic Misconduct Coursework: Advice for Students
- Student Coursework Plagiarism and Misconduct Rules: Investigation and Penalty Guidelines
- Forms and procedures on plagiarism
The new ‘Student coursework plagiarism and academic misconduct policy’ requires students to complete a self-test, the Academic Integrity Module (AIM), that covers aspects of the policy and notions of academic integrity, essential for successful and ethical study practices at UNE. The AIM module educates students about the contents of the new policy, what the university means by the term ‘plagiarism’ and how to incorporate the work of others into their own work without violating these rules. The AIM is available in the UNE101 Moodle unit. If UNE101 does not appear in a student's listed units, to gain access to this unit, students should send an email request, including their UNE username and student number.
Further information and online workshops on referencing and plagiarism are available from the Academic Skills Office website and from eSKILLS on the Dixson Library website.
