Essay writing and magic Essay writing does not require a magical ability to write well. An essay is more like a mathematical problem. Your thinking must follow a series of logical steps; if it does not, you will not arrive at a satisfactory answer. Essay writing involves a range of skills, so to write better essays: reflect on the skills required discover your weakest areas build strength in them. This process is another use of critically reflective practice (see Critical Reflection).

Essay writing and the law

You might also like to think of yourself as a lawyer arguing a case in court. Each point you make is like calling a witness to the stand. You will draw forth relevant information from the witnesses, or interrogate them, depending on how you wish your point to appear to the court. Your conclusion is a summing up of the case so as to convince the judge and jury.
