What does an essay test?
At tertiary level, an essay is a test designed to show that you:
- understand this academic form
- have acquired a certain body of knowledge
- can construct an informed opinion using this knowledge
- can construct a convincing logical argument
- are able to critically evaluate the ideas of others
- are able to acknowledge the ideas of others
- can express your ideas in a clear, professional writing style.
