Moving on

Editing and proofreading are the final stages of assignment writing. They are difficult tasks at first; but, like all crafts, they become much easier with practice. Once you receive your returned assignments, you will notice that your markers have edited and proofread your work as part of the marking process. From this you will learn about any weaknesses in your own style, and by referring back to other sections of Academic Literacy Online you will be able to correct most of the problems that have been identified.

In addition to written assignments, some courses assess students through an oral presentation. Oral presentations will show you the similarities and differences between the oral and written versions of assignment tasks, and help you overcome the reluctance most students feel about presenting their work publicly.
