The Cultural Diversity and Inclusive Practice Toolkit was created by Flinders University and has been adapted by staff in the Teaching & Learning Centre at UNE for use by the UNE community. The CDIP toolkit aims to assist all members of the UNE community to increase awareness of cultural diversity and inclusive practice and to promote mutual respect and intercultural understanding. The toolkit can be used to monitor areas of strength and identify areas that may need further development. It is not a prescriptive, fixed set of practices. The toolkit can be used by individuals for self-reflection or by small groups to facilitate discussions about:
- current practice
- obtaining colleague/ student feedback
- planning
- review and evaluation
The resources consist of General Information Folios (GIFs) and Theory into Practice Strategies (TIPS). The GIFs provide general information on topics relating to cultural diversity and inclusive practice. The TIPS provide advice and strategies for dealing with cultural diversity over a number of key areas of the university:
- Teaching and learning
- Research
- Leadership and administration
- University community
This is an ongoing project, and further resources will be developed to reflect the needs of staff and students at UNE and the complexity of cultural diversity. We value any comments or suggestions you have for the further development of these resources. Please address any queries or suggestions to the Teaching and Learning Centre
